The meticulous construction and dedication of these two pieces naturally overwhelmed and captivated even discerning fashion addicts, including our staff. The eagerly awaited third piece is a zip-up hoodie.
Zip-up parka
My honest reaction when I heard this was, "Is that going to be okay??" lol.
This is because a zip-up hoodie itself is a very universal and representative casual style that can be worn by men and women of all ages.
Therefore, it is an item that is rarely proposed in high fashion.
Moreover, considering that both the first and second works were special, I wondered if it could overcome the raised bar...
However, such anxieties were unfounded.
It far exceeded the raised bar, and at least among the parkas I've seen,
It is the most artisan,
the most crafted,
and the coolest piece.
I can confidently say that, and now I will move on to introducing the item itself.
#C-3 "Superior parka"
There are three main notable features.
・Reversible body with a two-layer construction of different high-density fabrics
・Washable cow leather running along the contours of the item
・Sizing that fits snugly to the body and a special pattern that ensures freedom of movement
I will explain each point in order, but first, let's start with:
・Reversible body with a two-layer construction of different high-density fabrics
Typical zip-up hoodies usually have a single lining of brushed back or pile fabric.
However, they intentionally chose a two-layer construction,
with an outer fabric made of random patchwork of ultra-dense jersey material,
and a lining made of ultra-high density typewriter cloth finished with Omi-zarashi.
This choice was not made to prioritize the general benefits of reversible specifications, such as being able to enjoy multiple styles with one garment or being cost-effective.
Instead, it was chosen after considering the selection of stronger fabrics than typical sweat hoodies and the visual strength of the garment.
The outer fabric is a random patchwork of jet-black, high-density jersey fabric.
The random patchwork, a detail that might appear flamboyant or youthful, seemed mismatched with the streamlined image that CONTRONYM envisioned for its items. When we inquired with the brand about why this specification was chosen,
"These also function as a base for creating NEW VINTAGE by adding patchwork yourself when the fabric gets damaged from years of wear."
was their reply. My impression was that it was truly excellent and characteristic of the brand.
Each of these answers conveys a sense of pride and conviction that really moves me.
For the lining, we used a typewriter cloth that has been Omi-washed and appears as if it's sumi-kuro (ink black).
Omi-zarashi is a traditional fabric processing technique primarily used for natural fibers, passed down in the Omi region of Shiga Prefecture.
The unique unevenness and fullness brought about by this processing give a chemical fiber-like nuance despite being a natural fiber.
The deliberate choice of two layers with different appearances
"The brand team's feeling was that this item was created so that the significance of its reversibility would deepen as it undergoes age-related changes with years of wear."
This specification has a clear purpose.
・Washable cow leather running along the contours of the item
The body construction alone is quite impressive, but next, let's talk about the leather tape, which is arguably the most symbolic feature of this parka.
Regardless of which side it is worn on, areas that are prone to damage and deterioration, such as the hem, sleeves, collar, and zipper line, are covered with tough 1mm thick cow leather tape.
This provides both functionality, making it resistant to abrasion, and an aesthetic appeal that gives it a more artisanal and cool impression.
"Perfection of design and function"
This detail represents an ideal in clothing.
And what's more, it's washable.
99% of items with leather cannot be cared for at home, and if they get dirty, dry cleaning is the only option. However, that alone can be a hassle, and personally, I can't imagine dry cleaning a parka that I want to wear daily every time.
The fact that it can be cared for at home is truly wonderful 👏 and shows consideration for the user.
Brands that can achieve this level of craftsmanship are rare to begin with, but it's common to see such brands release self-indulgent items that are far removed from user-friendliness. However, CONTRONYM has none of that.
I feel that this is one of the factors that attracts many people.

It's obvious that it's a relatively tight fit, but what's surprising is that it doesn't feel restrictive or impede movement at all.
Radial patterns, raglan sleeves, darts on the shoulders and back.
By adjusting these down to the millimeter, it fits the body seamlessly.
Understanding the body's range of motion and fitting it to the body without hindering movement, the comfort of this sleek, bodysuit-like fit is indescribable; honestly, you just have to try it on...

I'd like to tell you about a personal question I had when the item arrived, and how I asked it.
That question was,
why was the third piece, after the shirt and leather coat, a hoodie?
While I can't come up with a good analogy,
since it's a follow-up to the leather coat,
wouldn't something with more impact
that stands out even in photos or by name alone have been better?
The reason was clear:
"It was made to be a work uniform for us to wear daily."
This perspective is incredibly realistic, and the fact that they create it with such quality and craftsmanship makes me want to support this brand.
