Although a young brand,
it has quickly become a core brand at Amanojak.
However, I believe some of you may not be familiar with it,
so let's start with an introduction to the brand.
【FRACTION】

FRACTION (フラクション) is an up-and-coming designer brand
launched by designer Hiroshi Nakano based on his own philosophy,
starting from the 2025SS season.
The brand name, which means "slight, part" in English,
embodies the designer's desire to find true value
in "marginal existences" or
"things considered insignificant"
that are often overlooked in society.

Established after experience at global fashion brands,
FRACTION's core lies in its unwavering commitment to materials and patterns.

In particular, leather products and tailored jackets
are the essence of FRACTION, where Nakano-san's extensive experience
and artisanal techniques are combined.
Under Nakano-san's conviction,
the brand pursues precise and sophisticated creations.
FRACTION 26AW, the main topic,
does not have a clear season theme.

It is a collection based on Nakano's viewing of
Masahiko Akuta's "Fujin Raijin-zu" in November 2025,
and subsequently reflecting on his past self.
In introducing this collection,
I believe it's best to annotate and paraphrase the text
provided by Nakano-san, so I will proceed in that manner.

And as a keyword to keep in mind
during this introduction, there is
Historical and Private Order
And as we delve deeper into this,
following on from 26SS,
Fetishism
is also an indispensable keyword, but
if I may add a small note here,
"Fetishism" often refers to sexual preferences,
but in this collection, it would be easier to understand if it refers to
the original meaning, derived from the French "fétiche" (idol, charm):
The attitude of doting on a specific object or part of it.
So please keep this in mind as well.
Now, back to the main topic.
"Masahiko Akuta's 'Fujin Raijin-zu'
is a work where Keiji Haino's intense noise music
fills the space. It is an avant-garde stage
that delivers a sharp message about a cruel society,
and the experience of watching it
reminded me of my past self."
...says Nakano-san.

My past self, who was nothing yet.
Memories of a time when I had vague ideologies and anxieties,
felt like an outsider in society,
and was searching for a way to live by my own values and order.
But real society does not easily allow such existences.
Even so, supported by many, I connect with society and am who I am today.
From the perspective I've reached today,
to quietly reflect on my past self and
continue to question the internal order within me
while remaining connected to society.
It is through this back and forth of thought that
a distinct outline emerges:
a historical yet private order.
And a fetishistic perspective
that is drawn to specific objects.
FRACTION 26AW is a collection that expresses
these layers of thought and memory
with a strong outline.

"In considering order, the first thing that comes to mind
is to nullify the original meaning."
he says.
A note here.
"Nullification" generally refers to making the existence, meaning, value, or matter "as if it never happened,"
but in this collection, it means **not using it for its original purpose** or **invalidating its original meaning.**
I believe this understanding would be appropriate.
Returning to the main topic,
what symbolically appears in this collection are
motifs such as techno pants, an icon of 90s club culture,
and handcuffs, continuing from the previous collection.

These are not merely decorative details;
they are used as an approach to the feeling of
**"restraint"**
which directly touches upon the relationship between the body and clothing.

By deliberately incorporating these elements,
which would normally evoke an extraordinary
or somewhat special space, into everyday clothing,
what is created is a sensation that, while seemingly constrained,
rather makes one acutely aware of the body's presence.
Tension and Release.
Restriction and Freedom.
These may seem like conflicting elements,
but the state in which both exist simultaneously
is a crucial point in understanding this collection.
Looking at the use of materials, too,
FRACTION's strong individuality is evident throughout.
Horse leather with a unique texture containing oil,
Cow leather with different textures,
Linen with a leather-like texture.

Each textile exudes a clear presence.
On the other hand, there are soft and drapey materials such as
**wool-cashmere beaver and fleece,** and
the brand's staple **washed-look wool gabardine.**

By combining these with precise and linear materials
like **doeskin and Suvin broadcloth**,
even with similar compositions, the differences in their textures and forms
are highlighted even further.
And indispensable when talking about FRACTION is
Tailored jackets.

This season, they are again fully canvas-lined,
something rarely seen in modern ready-to-wear,
and it's particularly noteworthy that their precision and completeness have significantly improved.
It's also interesting that they draw inspiration from Gangoji Temple in Nara,
a place connected to Nakano-san.

Gangoji Temple is a temple in Nara City, Nara Prefecture,
whose origins date back to the Asuka period.
During the Nara period, it was one of the Seven Great Temples of Nanto
and held a significant presence.
Some of its remaining buildings still use tiles from the Asuka period,
and due to its high historical value, it is registered as part of a World Heritage Site.
The architecture, which has endured for an unimaginably long time,
still exudes a solemn and distinct sense of tension.
This tension and the beauty of the structure in temple architecture
are incorporated into the shoulder line.

"This time, I achieved the silhouette I was aiming for."
He said this at the exhibition, and the more you know FRACTION and its designer, Hiroshi Nakano,
the more you will feel the strong confidence in these words.
Also, similar to the tailored jackets, the outerwear, which has received many inquiries since the LOOKs were released, is a masterpiece that you "must" try on this time.
The trench coat actually worn by global star David Bowie.

While projecting admiration for this single piece,
it is sublimated as a personal expression
through the subtraction of details and the exquisite use of materials:
BOWIE TRENCH
The PEA COAT, originating from the British Navy
and typically made from thick melton for a structured look,
is crafted into a piece with a somewhat decadent beauty
using a soft main textile blend of wool and cashmere, and leather.
KN PEA COAT

As I mentioned earlier in the blog,
crash pants and techno pants, which were not in the context of previous FRACTION collections,
are appearing this time, making the pant silhouettes even more diverse.

In contrast, the **LOU R JACKET** and shirts,
which were part of previous collections and always popular,
have been updated and will also appear this time.

This collection can be enjoyed by bothFRACTION enthusiasts and those experiencing it for the first time.
When you look at the collection again,
considering its background and items,
"Nullification"
This concept will become easier to understand.
Techno pants, an icon of 90s club culture,
originally made of lightweight nylon or cotton twill,
are now made from beautiful, clean doeskin.
Crash pants, with their punk context,
are made from linen that looks like processed leather.
Utility shirts, derived from military wear,
incorporate elements of formal shirts
and are made from elegant, dressycotton silk.

Rather than directly quoting the original context and use of each item,
they are intentionally made from fabrics unsuitable for their original purpose
and repositioned within a different context,
thereby shifting their meaning and impression.
By doing so,
the existing roles of clothing, such as military or formal wear,
are dismantled and reconstructed within a new order.

And what becomes visible beyond that is
not complete freedom,
but freedom that is established within constraints.
These are what Nakano-san envisions as
the definition of limited freedom
towards a peaceful utopia.
he says.
Here, "restriction" does not mean simple oppression or lack of freedom.
It's about making seemingly conflicting or contradictory elements
coexist, including their tension.
The beauty that arises from this balance
is, I believe, the charm of the FRACTION brand.
How was it???
I had the privilege of seeing it at the exhibition beforehand,
and I was simply amazed by the exceptional level of completion.
Though never overly assertive,
there are clothes that, when worn,
possess the power to change
the way your body feels and even your posture.
That mysterious charm and power
shines even brighter this season.

As frustrating as it is, I realize that this charm
cannot be fully conveyed through photos or text.
That's why I strongly, strongly hope
you'll try them on first.
At this event, you can see the latest collection
in its full lineup.
The texture of the materials.
Beautiful patterns.
The exhilaration of putting them on.
It's a rare brand, irreplaceable by anything else.

And on March 20th (Fri.), March 21st (Sat.), and March 28th (Sat.),
designer Mr. Akira Nakano will be in store.
The designer himself vividly embodies the brand's worldview,
so if you speak with him, you'll understand the brand's framework
and a glimpse of its charm.
Also, for those far away, mail order is available,
so please feel free to inquire.
A definite order woven at the end of nullification
Please experience that philosophy and worldviewat the store.

The designer and all our staff
look forward to your visit.
Until next time! 👋
