We are holding this event again due to its great popularity!
First, a brief introduction
to the brand.
【FRACTION】

Starting from the 2025SS season,
FRACTION is a budding designer brand
launched by designer Akira Nakano
based on his own philosophy.
The brand name, which means "a small part, a fraction" in English,
embodies the designer's desire to find true value in
"marginal existences" or
"things considered insignificant"
that are often overlooked in society.
After gaining experience at global fashion brands,
the core of FRACTION lies in its unwavering commitment to materials and patterns.
In particular, leather products and
tailored jackets are the essence of FRACTION,
where Mr. Nakano's extensive experience
and artisanal techniques are combined.
Under Mr. Nakano's conviction,
FRACTION pursues precise and refined creations.
Next, I would like to explain
and introduce the 26SS season,
However, for this time,
I will quote actual text provided by designer Nakano
and add some terminology explanations and annotations of my own.
I believe this method will be the most effective in
generating interest in FRACTION's 26SS collection
and helping you understand it.
Furthermore, when reading the blog,
The representation of historical facts and the essence of personal expression.
Repression and liberation.
I think it will be easier to read if you keep
these opposing elements in mind.
First, let's talk about the season theme.
The theme for the FRACTION 26SS season is
【Fading or Faded Perceptions】
This season is inspired by
the British composer Gavin Bryars,
who recreated and reconstructed the music
that was likely played on the Titanic
before and as it sank, drawing from historical records,
music of the era, and accounts of the musicians on board.

Mr. Nakano says:
"Tailoring, once characterized by canvas interlining,
achieved a perfected beauty unique to each era.
Under the influence of capitalism and materialism,
it transformed into a more affordable and efficient tailoring method,
and the fusible interlining brought about a revolution.
The fusible interlining revolution, I believe,
made it possible to create three-dimensional objects
more freely and efficiently.
However, I wondered if employing the classic tailoring method
using canvas interlining again could bring a sense of freshness today.
To that end, this season, we have created and are using
our own canvas interlining.
In addition, our dress shirts do not use fusible interlining,
and our waistbands also incorporate canvas interlining."
he states.
Here's a note about canvas interlining and fusible interlining.

These are collectively called interlinings,
and refer to the auxiliary materials
inserted between the outer fabric and lining
of suits and jackets. They help stabilize the silhouette
and reinforce the garment to prevent it from easily losing its shape.
Fusible interlining, as the name suggests,
is a method of attaching interlining by adhesive rather than stitching.
It is used in many ready-made suits and jackets.
While inexpensive and relatively easy,
it has the disadvantage of becoming flat over time
and it is difficult to create a strong silhouette
due to the thin interlining.

In contrast, canvas interlining is a method of attaching interlining by stitching.
Generally, canvas interlining is thicker and stiffer,
which tends to create a more structured and three-dimensional form.
It also has the advantage of making the jacket itself more durable.
However, the materials themselves are expensive, and
it requires more effort, so the disadvantages are
that it is costly and tends to be heavier.
The origin of this collection is
the reconstruction of the lost, or fading,
perfected beauty of the past.
To express this, Mr. Nakano, through his relationship with tailors,
created his own unique canvas interlining.

This allowed him to create a canvas interlining that is
exceptionally affordable for its quality, light, and comfortable,
overcoming the disadvantages of conventional canvas interlining,
and incorporating it into many items.
By combining historical expression with personal expression,
he presents the "perfected beauty of the past" to the modern age,
making a statement in the history of Japanese clothing.
"perfected beauty of the past"
is presented to the modern age.

He also mentioned that his trip to Vienna
in February, centered around Egon Schiele,
had a profound influence on him.
Upon visiting the Natural History Museum Vienna,
and the Narrenturm (Fool's Tower) integrated within it,
Mr. Nakano was confronted with donated corpses, human bones,
and various organs, which led him to reflect.
"It was an experience that forced me to consider
the organicity of the human body and
clothing as a second skin."
he says,
and this experience led him to dissect existing designs
of jackets, shirts, and pants to create new designs,
adding depth and breadth to the collection.

During his stay in Vienna, he also visited
Café Central, which Freud often frequented,
and Leopold Hawelka, where various cultural figures gathered,
experiencing a unique culture.

These experiences are expressed as
double-breasted tailoring and wrap skirts.
These are not mere reproductions, but are incorporated into the products
as Mr. Nakano's "personal expression."
Furthermore, the expression of historical facts and the essence of personal expression, inspired by Bryars.
The interpretation and reinterpretation of the perfected beauty of the past.
Vienna, as experienced by the designer himself.
"These lead to the Ramones' handcuffs, derived from the fetishism of Vienna."
he states.
To add a brief annotation, fetishism generally refers to a sexual preference,
but in this context, it refers to the original meaning of the word,
derived from the French "fétiche" (idol, charm),
which means an attitude of partiality towards a specific object or part of it.
I believe this interpretation will be easier to understand.
Next, the Ramones were an American punk band
formed in 1974.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002,
and ranked 26th on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time,"
they were a punk band that had a huge influence on the punk scene.

During photo shoots for their CDs, the Ramones
wore German temporary handcuffs
attached to their leather jackets.
The sight of these temporary handcuffs
attached to jackets and pants,

"Reflecting my six months of experience,
it's not just a reproduction of past beauty,
but a collection with a certain turbidity."
he says.
This unique presence, with a certain "turbidity,"
is created by combining the fetishistic experience in Vienna
with the symbolism of the Ramones.

The origin of this season is ultimately
the reconstruction of the lost,or fading,
perfected beauty of the past.
Through his own interpretation and experience,
he sublimates this into a "personal expression"
that is not merely beautiful, but also embraces distortion and conflict,
expressing it with delicate power.
A keyword to better understand
this collection is
repression and liberation.
This is reflected in the styling of the collection and
the combination of the item's original source and textile.
"For example, taking a motorcycle coat (repression),
which is originally meant to protect the body,
and intentionally making it from light linen (liberation).
In terms of styling, there are tightly constructed
full-canvas jackets and leather (which can be seen as repressive),
but then mixing them with liberating elements like wrap skirts."

These elements create a tension throughout the styling
that cannot be achieved by individual items alone.
This contrast is not just a visual gap;
the wearer is protected by the strength of leather and jackets,
yet liberated by the lightness of linen and skirts.

This coexistence of contradictions is precisely
how we live in the modern age, and it is
FRACTION's interpretation.
“Contemporary Attire”
it is presented.
Additionally, for some items,
approaches were changed for the 1st and 2nd seasons.
As the prime example of this success,
Mr. Nakano said that this was very well done.

CHET SHIRT
This work, which uses pig leather with plenty of oil,
is an approach that Mr. Nakano usually takes.
A rough sketch
↓
Repeated pattern adjustments
Instead of that,
at the rough sketch stage,
by finalizing not only values like shoulder width and body width
but also details like how the shoulders are attached
and the position and spacing of stitches,
and then proceeding to creation,
this brings a slight sense of unfamiliarity and freshness
due to not following the usual method mentioned above.
Since this is difficult to convey without trying it on,
please visit the store.
Furthermore, as a new proposal for the seasonal theme of
Straight lines / Curves
there is a pair of flared trousers
derived from the pants worn by the legendary Yūsaku Matsuda,
whom the designer admires.

YM TROUSER
Despite being made of organza,
its beautiful appearance, resembling a jacket, is impressive.

ATELIER JACKET 1

ATELIER JACKET 2
A wide yet rich collection that reflects Mr. Nakano's philosophy.
Additionally, some items can be customized with Shibuichi buttons, as before.

Shibuichi (also known as Oborogin) buttons
...Original buttons made from an alloy of 74% copper, 25% silver, and 1% gold (Cu74% Ag25% Au1%).
This valuable Shibuichi alloy, produced during the Edo period
and now almost forgotten, has been reproduced by the brand.
While there is an additional charge,
simply adding these buttons will transform the garment into a truly special piece unlike any other,
so please consider it.
How was it?
It's a flood of information, or rather, it's raining information... haha.
However, there's still information we haven't even touched upon yet, so please feel free to ask about that at the store.
This event is a unique opportunity
to see the full lineup of a highly dense collection
built by designer Hiroshi Nakano, weaving his philosophy and experience,
and traversing historical facts and personal expression.

It is a lineup that reconstructs the beauty of lost tailoring in a modern way,
and combines it with "simple handcuffs," a personal expression from his own experience.
It is not merely beautiful, but harbors distortion and conflict,
and empowers those who wear it with "attire for living in the modern age."

The palpable presence woven from material, tailoring, and philosophy
can be felt each time you wear it.
It is not just words; by actually trying it on,
you can truly appreciate its depth.
Furthermore, on September 27th (Saturday) and 28th (Sunday),
designer Mr. Nakano himself will be present,
offering a valuable opportunity to directly hear about
the brand's philosophy and production background.
It will be an opportunity to deepen your affection for the garment
by learning about the commitment to craftsmanship
and the thoughts behind it.
For those who are far away, mail order is also available,
so please feel free to inquire.

This special limited-time pre-order event
is an opportunity to fully experience the world of FRACTION,
so don't miss it.
We sincerely look forward to your visit.
Well then, goodbye 👋
