-----------------------------------------------------------------
Around August last year,
we held a pre-order event for 26SS, which received a lot of positive feedback.
This season, we will also be holding a pre-order event for VIVIANO mens!
I apologize if this sounds a bit condescending,
but let me just say one thing upfront.
VIVIANO's 26AW was
surprisingly good.
Having said that, let me first introduce the brand.
A fashion brand based in Tokyo
VIVIANO
was founded in 2015 by
designer Viviano Sue.

Born in China, raised in America,
and after graduating from Bunka Fashion Graduate University in Japan,
the designer settled in Tokyo, leveraging their multicultural background to create
collections that are avant-garde yet fuse elegance and drama, enjoying a cult following.

Initially launched as "Viviano Sue", the brand name was changed to "VIVIANO" in the Autumn/Winter 2020 season.
Since then, it has garnered attention as one of the leading brands in Tokyo Collection, and in 2022,
it received the "TOKYO FASHION AWARD".
It continues to showcase its unique worldview not only in Japan but also to the world.
The brand concept is
"Chaos in shimmer through the veil of order
―
Chaos shimmering through the veil of order"

With a correct and deep understanding of the history of clothing, the patterns form a strong foundation.
Upon this foundation, decorations such as tulle, ruffles, and frills expand delicately and freely. This is the VIVIANO brand.
The brand's core philosophy is
“finding order in chaos”
a sense of beauty.

As a result, among the myriad of brands, it emanates a unique presence that is both
dramatic and an art piece,
yet also real clothing.
And this time, the order meeting will be held for VIVIANO's men's collection, which started in the 25SS season.

In short, the brand's philosophy is
"Sweetness (ruffles/tulle)
×
Construction (tailoring)"
The lines are optimized for the male body, not merely oversized, and rather than eliminating the boundary between masculine and feminine,
it's more like melting or merging.
This conveys a kind of
"beauty that transcends gender."
And the theme of this event, the 26AW season, is
ʻʼOn Ambiguity: His Caseʼʼ

Up until now, the VIVIANO men's collection was positioned as a spin-off of the women's collection, as the brand held an overwhelming presence and cult following in women's fashion.
"What is born when men's clothing is created with a women's sensibility?"
This question has been at the heart of the collection for the past three seasons.

By incorporating feminine decorations and details like ruffles and tulle into men's clothing, we have been attempting to express something that blurs the boundaries of gender.
They have been attempting to express a blurring of gender boundaries.
However, for 26AW, that perspective has significantly shifted.
Instead of "transplanting" femininity into menswear,
the brand's concept of ambiguity and fluidity is embedded within the menswear itself.
Ambiguity and fluidity are inherent.
The collection was designed with a clear vision in mind.

VIVIANO originally felt a "discomfort with menswear" and made the following statement regarding the announcement of this collection.
"Menswear has long been strictly controlled by rules and dress codes.
That was order, and at the same time, it was "correctness" associated with masculinity.
In modern times, that framework seems to be becoming even stronger.
Everything is clearly defined, compartmentalized, and ambiguity and fluidity are eliminated.
The unspoken nuances that once surely existed are gradually being lost."
While lamenting modern times, this collection features a fictional "him" who is in the same situation as us, symbolizing and developing the collection.
“him”
is depicted as a symbolic presence, and the collection unfolds.

While conforming to norms, there's a sense of not quite belonging.
A desire to conform,
and an urge to betray.
A part that wants to accept,
and an undeniable sense of unease.

"He" is an ambiguous and contradictory being, constantly swaying with conflicting emotions.
These emotions and fluctuations are directly incorporated into the clothing, resulting in a collection that visualizes the chaos hidden within order, which is the brand's concept.
a collection that visualizes the chaos hidden within order.
And as I wrote at the beginning of the blog,
VIVIANO's 26AW was truly good.

Furthermore, the impression it gave when seen in the lookbook or on the rack was that it could be worn with a much more natural sense of excitement.
VIVIANO's usual process for creating items is to first create the product and then decide which textiles would best suit it.However, for this collection, they started by selecting the textiles and then creating the items, allowing them to maintain VIVIANO's dramatic ornamentation and artistic appeal while elevating the perfection of the menswear through a combination of compelling textiles and craftsmanship-inspired ornamentation.
This collection started with a new approach by beginning with textile selection, which has elevated the completeness of menswear by combining the compelling nature of textiles with craftsmanship-inspired embellishments, while maintaining VIVIANO's dramatic ornamentation and artistic appeal.
the persuasiveness of textiles

craftsmanship-inspired decoration
This combination has raised the level of completeness for menswear by several stages.

Furthermore, because the collection began from a different starting point than previous ones, the patterns have also been re-evaluated.
While originally possessing excellent pattern-making skills, until 26SS, the starting point was how to express women's items for men.
By creating the men's collection from the beginning,

The collection features items that can be worn by men of all ages, with the original soft, rounded patterns augmented by a masculine neatness.
It's not about simply being cool or neat, which often happens when a women's brand starts making menswear, nor is it about just adding a touch of their signature sweetness.
Instead, while based on the framework of menswear,
adornments are integrated, sometimes blending in, sometimes subtly emerging as a hint of deviation.
The balance is incredibly skillful, creating an expression that only VIVIANO can achieve.

Neither "feminine" nor "masculine," but belonging entirely to neither.
Ambiguous beauty
is expressed.
And at this event, you absolutely must try on this item:
The VIVIANO artistry is expressed without being overly conspicuous by embroidering cords of the same color.
French Corded Oversized DB Blazer

The beautiful pattern as well as the design,
and the textile's strong presence
make this a unique piece for the season.
Additionally, the puff sleeves from last season
have been pattern-adjusted so that
they can be worn comfortably by men.
Puff Sleeve DB Jacket

Our signature rounded silhouette
is also expressed in leather with this
Leather Balloon Harrington Jacket

The melange tweed, with its characteristic color scheme,
is finished with blanket embroidery, which requires advanced techniques,
to create a powerful look
that avoids being overly feminine.
Melange Tweed Jacket

Our specialty sports-style suits
are also exceptionally well-made this season.

The brand's characteristic vivid yet
easy-to-blend color palette
is still present this season.
And by using slightly puffed-up materials,
the knitwear also achieves a distinct look.

The shorts with deep pleats
are flared yet well-fitted,
and as shown in this look,
wearing them as a set with a heavy outer garment
made of the same material is incredibly stylish.
And this fabric was also excellent.

This collection is outstanding,
maintaining VIVIANO's characteristic
unconventional silhouettes,
and enhanced by the quality of the textiles.
What do you think???
Personally, I feel that this VIVIANO men's 26AW collection
is a very accomplished season.
The theme of
"Ambiguity"
is not just talked about as a concept,
but is solidly realized in the clothing.
And the fact that it is expressed
without compromising the essence of menswear
is particularly noteworthy.

Ruffles, embroidery, and other embellishments,
and VIVIANO's characteristic unconventional silhouettes.
In this collection, all of these elements
are incorporated into the clothing
more naturally and with more conviction,
making them wearable for men.
And this special order event is an opportunity to see
the full lineup of the 26AW men's collection.
Once again, VIVIANO is
a brand that is completed
by putting on and wearing the clothes.
Please come and try on the clothes.
It's a brand that will clearly broaden your fashion horizons.
Please visit the Sendagi store to make new discoveries.
All of our staff members
sincerely look forward to your visit.
Well then, goodbye 👋
